Foundation Task Update 7

Before the school term ended for the summer, me and Shane had been busy with our foundation production. The editing was completed before the end of term to the point where we were both pleased with how the production turned out.

Although we did encounter problems during the editing process, the first being the music. The soundtrack was in sync with the footage before we started editing, however when editing the footage down, we soon realized that we would have to re align the music with the footage so that they were both in sync with each other. This problem was soon resolved.

The second issue was with LiveType. We decided on our opening titles through various experimenting with different fonts and effects. However once we imported the titles and credits, we realized for the second time that the music was out of sync. So like before we had to re align the music to match the footage and now the titles. We did this by resorting to adding a separate track for the opening titles so that it would blend in to the other music track without 'jumping'.

The third problem was with the titles appearing over the film itself. We had decided on where the titles would appear and at points we were removing certain title segments, re-phrasing them and changing their position on screen. However after many changes, Shane and myself were pleased with how the titles had turned out.

Foundation Task Update 6

Whilst working with Livetype, myself and Shane have been using Garageband to compose a piece of music for our horror opening. Beforehand we had used Garageband to record two voice overs that we wanted to use in the opening.

We did run into a slight problem when it came to importing the voice overs into Final Cut Express 4. However we resorted into placing the music files onto a CD and then imported them into Final Cut.

Foundation Task Update 5

Now that the editing process is underway, which is near completion, me and Shane began to work on the titles for our opening, for this we used software called 'LiveType'.

Trial and error is how we are deciding on for example which fonts to use etc. At this moment in time, we have two title clips which we are both pleased with however we are both still undecided on which one to use. These two clips will be added to this post at a later date.

Foundation Task Upate 4

Our filming has now been completed for our horror opening. Although we we were successful in obtaining our footage, there were some issues which did occur along the way.

The location which we originally had to be changed due to accessibility and also the space in which we had to work with. This led to the location being changed to my front yard as there was a secluded area which met the criteria of what we needed for our location.

Now because that we had changed location, this meant we had to adapt our camera shots/angles to suit the new, smaller, area. Also, the road scenes were very time consuming as we had no control over the passing cars. So we did have to comprimise with some of the shots which we wanted to use.

Also in the road scenes, we failed to notice, until reviewing the footage, that there was a fingerprint-like smudge on the camera lens, despite this however, we did manage to obtain crucial footage which we can use for our opening.

Foundation Task Update 3

Now that we have finished everything in pre-production, all that is left to do is the filming itself.
